Specialty Surgery Center of St. Louis

Our goal is to provide safe, compassionate, state of the art and cost effective outpatient health care.

The Specialty Surgery Center of St. Louis currently specializes in Spine and Urologic procedures. We have 32 surgeons eager to care for patients in St. Louis County, St. Charles County, neighboring Illinois, and surrounding communities.

As surgeons, we care for patients with diseases of the male and female urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, and adrenal gland) and the male reproductive organs. Our spine care includes decompressions, disc replacements and fusions of the cervical and lumbar regions.

We are a well-established neurosurgery group that has provided exceptional care for spine conditions for over 90 years. We moved from the traditional hospital setting in August 2021 in order to treat patients with the same top-quality care in a more efficient and convenient environment for our patients. We feel privileged to provide neurosurgical care to the people of St. Louis, Central and Southern Missouri, and Southern Illinois. It was our patients who inspired us to move into private practice, and it is our mission to continue to provide the best possible outcomes.

Our goal is to provide safe, compassionate, state of the art and cost effective outpatient health care.

The center provides an experience that is efficient for your busy life and at a rate much less that traditional hospital visits.

The common urologic conditions we evaluate and treat include hematuria (blood in the urine), urinary tract infections, kidney and ureteral stones, overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer, male sterility, bladder cancer, and kidney cancer. The common spine conditions we evaluate and treat include neck, arm and back pain.

Common urologic surgeries performed at our center include prostate surgery for benign prostate hypertrophy, kidney stone treatment, surgery for stress urinary incontinence, resection of bladder cancer and surgery for evaluation of hematuria and urinary tract obstruction. The common spine procedures are ACDF, microdiscectomy, lumbar laminectomy and cervical disc replacement.

As urologists, we care for patients with diseases of the male and female urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, and adrenal gland) and the male reproductive organs.

What our patients say

“The whole process from check-in to discharge procedure was exceptional. Dr Parres was called away for an emergency and Dr Spellman stepped in to do the procedure. Considering this was the first time we met Dr Spellman, he made us feel very comfortable with the whole fusion biopsy procedure and what to expect. The nursing staff did an awesome job and was very attentive and kind. All in all the whole process was great.”

“All staff members were great! Professional, knowledgeable, friendly and caring! From the receptionist to the surgery room everyone was very helpful. I wish I could recall all their names, but there were so many helpful people and it went so quickly (they were very efficient), that the one person who spent the most time with me was Molly. And of course, I can’t leave out Dr. Vulin who showed me the x-rays and explained the procedure once again. Just a great team effort! Thank you very much!”

“I felt VERY well taken care of by a caring and professional group of people today. Please extend my sincere appreciation to all involved. And yes, the drugs, I believe, have worn off! It’s me speaking not under the influence!”

“All the staff, Dr. Williams, registrar, were awesome. Thank you everyone!!!!”

“Kelly…great bedside manner. Made me feel very comfortable. Dr Schneider very efficient and thorough. The anesthetist – both explained everything and made me feel comfortable and confident.”

I was treated like a VIP by every staff member that I encountered! I was nervous about my procedure and they put my mind at ease!
